Smith Optics Unisex Adult Holt Snow Sports Helmet

Smith Optics Unisex Adult Holt Snow Sports Helmet
  1. The innovative, all-weather Holt helmet, from active sports gear maker Smith Optics, can be customized with the included convertible pad kit to keep your lid warm on the winter slopes, and cool in the summer skate park.
  2. Temperature and moisture management, in both helmet and goggles, is the single most important factor in enjoying a day of riding, and Smith Optic’s Dual Regulator ventilation system independently controls both front and rear sections of venting.
  3. By exhausting heat through the rear vents while maintaining a sealed front end, your body is able to effectively cool down when needed, but avoid the dreaded “ice cream headache” caused by cold air blasting against your forehead.
  4. The system is especially effective when pairing a Smith helmet with Smith goggles.
  5. Smith’s renowned, impact resistant Bombshell Construction utilizes an injection molded ABS shell to ensure superior durability against dents and dings while, of course maximizing head protection.
  6. An optional Skullcandy Audio System (sold separately) completely integrates into the helmet’s padding, letting you listen to your favorite playlist while riding the rails or half pipe walls.
  7. Fits perfectly with my fairly small head and is real comfortable.
  8. Also keeps your head nice and warm so no need for wearing a hat underneath.
  9. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a non-expensive but protective helmet.
  10. My head measured from 52-54 cm and the size fit perfect.
  11. Just measure your head all the way around and purchase the size that fits your measurement-range.
  12. My wife and daughter were beginners at snowboarding last year and this year saw them advance to intermediate levels of ability.
  13. It will come as no surprise that they have had their fare share of tumbles and one in particular was life threateningly scary for my wife.
  14. The helmet is the only reason why she was able to catch her breath and then continue after a massive multiple flip stack on packed (hard) snow.
  15. There wasn’t a single scratch on the helmet and the piste control said that it was the only reason she was not making her way to the nearest trauma centre in a helicopter.
  16. I myself managed to give myself a good hiding in the snowboard park after an attempt over the quarter pipe saw me land face down with my forehead greeting the snow first.
  17. Again, I am sure that this brand of helmet deserves all the credit.
  18. The outer material is extremely durable, the lining is very comfortable and the removable ear muffs are most welcoming when hit with a freezing gust if wind.
  19. The colour options mean that there is something out there for everyone and the sizes meet the requirements of all.
  20. I would not hesitate to recommend this helmet to anyone seeking to have fun with safety in mind.
  21. A great all-round performer made of durable and reliable materials at a great price point.
  22. I ordered the Extra large and found it to fit perfectly.
  23. I wore it all winter with the included ear muffs in temps ranging from sub 0 to over 35 degrees Fahrenheit.
  24. When the temps reached above 35 near the end of the season I snapped out the liner (which takes 10 seconds) and kept on going.
  25. I did take a pretty nasty fall on a double black over a patch of hidden ice, and I’m sure if I hadn’t had this helmet on it would have ended my day if not seriously injured me.
  26. I measured my head and bought the size according to the chart and it is perfect.
  27. The helmet itself is comfortable and it doesn’t feel bulky.
  28. Also, the package arrived a day earlier than expected so that was a bonus.
  29. Size: Ledge is overall slimmer than Holt, especially on the sides: the Holt is rounded on the sides while Ledge is almost a straight cut.
  30. Ledge is also smaller in height, and feels a bit lighter on head.
  31. Quality: though cheaper than the Holt, the Ledge actually has better quality in details.
  32. When I pulled the ear pieces down in order to put on the helmet, one of the ear pieces on Holt became loose and can be easily pulled out just after a few try.
  33. Also, for the press-on strap on the inside for size adjustment, Ledge’s gives a positive and solid snap while Holt’s is harder to push in and out, no clear snap either.
  34. Ledge’s ear pieces are much thinner than Holt’s, making it easier to hear things and may feels cooler in warmer days.
  35. They are both comfortable though, just personal preference.
  36. Goggle strap clip: The one on Holt is a larger unit with very solid construction, tighter than Ledge’s, but Ledge’s can hold the strap just fine and it’s easier to bend to pull the strap in and out.
  37. However, I do think the Holt has a more stylish design.
  38. Fitting wise, they both work out great, although the Ledge has a tighter fit in my opinion.
  39. The padding is nice, and the helmet itself is light on your head.
  40. This colour (black) goes well with pretty much any coloured jacket, and the many vents on the helmet keep your head cool, especially during the spring (the ear pads can also be removed).
  41. The goggle fit is another great feature, as the helmet provides the right amount of space for my goggles to fit nicely.
  42. The helmet provides vents above the goggle space, preventing them from fogging up.
  43. Though this helmet has mostly positive features, I would definitely like it better if it were a bit less bulky (mostly at the back), and if it had more size adjusting features.
  44. It doesn’t clip down, and I already lost my pair because of that.
  45. I don’t want to have to think about losing my goggles while riding.
  46. The only issue is the lack of easy adjustment system on the back.
  47. Highly recommend to those needing ski/snowboarding helmet.
  48. Besides the protection it offers it beats a hat all day.
  49. It gets the job done, is comfortable, stylish and the bright orange color ensures I see my little brother on the hill.
  50. I expected it to be and it keeps your head warm while skiing.
